February 24, 2024: Black Vendor Village

Exciting news for Clarington residents and beyond! This February, in celebration of Black History Month, the Municipality of Clarington is proud to present its first-ever Black Vendor Village. Set to be a vibrant and culturally enriching event, the Black Vendor Village promises a day filled with music, performances, community engagement, and of course, a showcase of local Black-owned businesses.


Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 24th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex, located at 2440 Highway 2 in Bowmanville. This event is open to everyone, so bring your friends, family, and neighbors for a day of celebration and support.


What can you expect at the Black Vendor Village? Prepare to be immersed in a lively atmosphere featuring music, performances, and activities for all ages. You'll have the opportunity to meet members of Clarington's Diversity Advisory and Anti-Black Racism Committees, fostering important conversations and connections within the community. Additionally, the Clarington Library, Museums, and Archives will be on hand to host engaging activities and provide further insight into Black history and culture.


But that's not all – throughout the day, the Vendor Village will be open for business, showcasing a diverse array of products from local Black-owned businesses. From artisanal crafts to delectable treats, there will be something for everyone to discover and enjoy.


This incredible event is made possible through the collaboration of the Municipality of Clarington, Region of Durham, and Clarington Library, Museums, and Archives. It's a testament to the community's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and celebration of Black culture.
